I fixed it by commenting out the first line of /etc/apt/sources.list*:

#deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 20.04 LTS _Focal Fossa_ - Beta amd64 (20200402)]/ focal main restricted

This fixes the apt bug and Netflix now also works in Firefox!

* As suggested in the Ubuntu Podcast Chatter Telegram channel.

affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) → apt (Ubuntu)

Then either supply the medium you installed from or remove the entry. What did you install from?

What, I'm supposed to keep my usb stick (not even cdrom) around in case somewhere down the line (could be weeks/months) I want to get Netflix to work in my browser?? Even though there is a perfectly good version of libavcodec-extra in the online repos? Are you serious?

Oh sorry, you also suggested to remove the entry I see now. Still, I think that is too much to ask from certain users. This should just work, right?

Did you activate that entry? It's there but not enabled by default...

No, I didn't change anything to /etc/apt/sources.list, until I commented out the first line (deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 20.04 LTS _Focal Fossa_ - Beta amd64 (20200402)]/ focal main restricted).
