Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

gnome-power-manager and something in KDE should check if logging out is in progress, to not spawn more than interactive logout windows when pushing the power button multiple times.

-- original report --
Hi.
With my laptop HP Compaq nx7300 and Ubuntu 7.10 32 bits, if I push the power button more times, more windows dialog appear if I cancel with the "Cancel" Button.
I configure the Power Management Preferences Actions as:
When the power button is pressed: Ask me.
When the suspend button is pressed: Suspend.
Check Always display an icon.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems. http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem,
2. the behavior you expected
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible)
4. The package version of gnome-power-manager (can be obtained with: "apt-cache madison gnome-power-manager" or via your package manager)
Thanks!

Sorry, I'm spanish, sorry me english!

The bug is:
1.- Specific steps I took:
a.-I push in my laptop the Power Button more times (By example 5 times). [Fisically button! not the menu's Gnome button].
b.- I push the "Cancel" Button 4 times in the dialog of Gnome.

2.- Behavior I expected: When I push "Cancel" button, the dialog must be close!

3.- Behavior I actually encount: When I push "Cancel" button, the dialog appear 5 times (or a times as "a" I pushed the Power button).

4.- marcos@marcos-laptop:~$ apt-cache madison gnome-power-manager
gnome-power-manager | 2.20.0-0ubuntu6 | http://archive.ubuntu.com gutsy/main Packages
gnome-power-manager | 2.20.0-0ubuntu6 | http://archive.ubuntu.com gutsy/main Sources

PD: The power button is the button number 16 in the picture: http://es.geocities.com/llancubel/hp.jpg

The file "Report of action" is only one push the power button, and only one Cancel button.

If I push more times the power button and cancel button too, is the report of this comment
