Bug Description

The Ubuntu Error Tracker has been receiving reports about a problem regarding gdm3. This problem was most recently seen with package version 3.34.1-1ubuntu1, the problem page at https://errors.ubuntu.com/problem/00b8a9f69f6d7a7abcf6d805b4e454a506a697ff contains more details, including versions of packages affected, stacktrace or traceback, and individual crash reports.

The stacktrace has

Looks like it might be a fprintd issue

The journal logs on the errors report have

 fprintd[11083]: Device reported an error during identify: The driver encountered a protocol error with the device.
