Thanks for reporting.

I couldn't find "Click or press a key to unlock" among the translatable strings for gdm3, looks like it might be in gnome-shell instead https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/focal/+source/gnome-shell/+pots/gnome-shell/fr/453/+translate. The good news is that has been recently translated. I am not sure how often they are updated, but I believe this should make it into a new language pack version before release of 20.04. (Judging by the release schedule https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FocalFossa/ReleaseSchedule the deadline for language packs is April 16th, but I would expect to see it in an update sooner)

That's odd. The source code suggests the French translation has existed since at least version 3.35.92.

no longer affects: gdm3 (Ubuntu)

@Daniel, we had .91 until a week ago and directly went to 3.36.0

The was no langpack updates since that update landed but it's translated in launchpad now so should be part of the next langpack export

Changed in gnome-shell (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Critical
importance: Critical → Low
status: New → Fix Committed
affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) → language-pack-gnome-fr (Ubuntu)

Are you saying Ubuntu language updates override upstream? Because the original reporter seems to have:

  gnome-shell 3.36.0-2ubuntu2

which should have the translation already.

@seb128 does it also fix lockscreen date format?

language-pack-gnome-fr 1:20.04+20200407 is now available in Focal, could you check if this resolves the issue?

(I don't know if the date format has been changed/affected, that might be a separate issue)
