Bug Description

Fails in focal lubuntu:  1779384320 2020-03-14 Sat 11:49:43 lubuntu/focal-desktop-amd64.iso

Works in focal ubuntu:  2810314752 2020-04-01 Wed 11:10:05 ubuntu/focal-desktop-amd64.iso

The success in ubuntu but failure in lubuntu can be reproduced by merely booting the above live ISOs and installing blueman-manager into the live systems.

i'm guessing this is a dependency issue that only manifests in lubuntu.

in lubuntu the Bose SLIII appears in blueman-manager in response to adapter search, and when i rightclick onit and click pair, the 3 bar graphs appear momentarily, then disappear again, and thereafter "pair" is greyed out on the rightclick menu.  i guess that means it paired properly.  Then when i rightclick and choose connect, blueman-manager says "Connection Failed: Resource temporarily unavailable", and the SLIII fails to appear in pavucontrol.

To avoid confusion you may as well skip reading comments 6 through 10.

i installed from this lubuntu iso:

1779384320 2020-03-14 Sat 11:49:43 lubuntu/focal-desktop-amd64.iso

i just booted up that iso again, installed blueman and pavucontrol-qt into the live system, and it fails as above. my installed system is fully updated and also still fails as above.

so then i downloaded the ubuntu iso:

2810314752 2020-04-01 Wed 11:10:05 ubuntu/focal-desktop-amd64.iso

it's a little more recent, which could be the difference, but my bet is the difference is it has more/different packages. it works.

so this issue should be re-titled 'regression: bose sl iii works in bionic lubuntu, and in focal ubuntu, but fails in focal lubuntu'

and i'm guessing it's a dependency issue.

summary: - regression: Bose SL III works in bionic but not in focal
+ regression: bose sl iii works in bionic lubuntu, and in focal ubuntu,
+ but fails in focal lubuntu

better description of failure: Bose SLIII appears in blueman-manager in response to adapter search, but pair fails.

as noted above, this works properly in focal ubuntu, and fails in focal lubuntu. this can be reproduced by merely booting the focal ubuntu and lubuntu live ISOs and installing blueman-manager into the live systems.

Sorry, that wasn't a better description. When i rightclick on the Bose SLIII and click pair, the 3 bar graphs appear momentarily, then disappear again, and thereafter "pair" is greyed out on the rightclick menu. i guess that means it did pair properly. But doesn't appear in pavucontrol.

says
PulseAudio isn't involved in the "connect" operation, PulseAudio only enters the picture once the device has been connected. If connecting fails, then this doesn't look like a PulseAudio bug.
