Booting 5.0.0-1040-oem-osp1 fixes the audio problem for me.
Both 5.0.0-1043-oem-osp1 and 5.3.0-42 have the problem.

The same issue on Dell G3 3590
switching to 5.0.0-1040-oem-osp1 solves the issue with internal speaker & mic.

I could not login with 5.0.0-1040-oem-osp1 except ubuntu with wayland (still no sound) so I added following line to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=laptop-dmic

This setting works with 5.0.0-1043 and 46 kernels.
Unfortunately internal mic. does not work as others reported (sorry I couldn't link the bug report page).

I tried options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=laptop-dmic in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf, but it did not work for me.

I tried 5.0.0-1047-oem-osp1, but still not fixed.

Then I tried kernel parameter snd_hda_intel.dmic_detect=0, which fixes the sound output, but the internal microphone now doesn't work, see also https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/64720.

I've tried snd_hda_intel.dmic_detect=0 on 5.0.0-1040-oem, 1046 and 1047, and all produce sound output now (although the mic doesn't work, but plugging in a headset (with mic) gets me a mic and output, if needed).

This is an linux-firmware issue, it's been fixed in next linux-firmware update.
Currently, you can try copying origin firmware under /lib/firmware to make it work
   cd /lib/firmware/intel/sof
   sudo ln -s sof-cnl.ri sof-cfl.ri

This same bug affects me as well. It might of happened the last time I updated but hard to say (I didn't notice right away)

I have several sound card/devices; NVIDIA 1080 graphics card, intel, and a sound blaster, all of which are now gone. Running Ubuntu 20.04.2
