Bug Description

ISO testing 20.04 daily image for Budgie 20200316. During boot of install media, the media-validation step ignores "s" to skip.

Other *buntu flavors ignore "s" during a lengthy check of a large squash file. But, Budgie is ignoring it even as it cycles through small files.

Today's 20.04 Budgie daily image (20200318) recognized "s" during media check during the small-file checks. (I think the large file check isn't responsive to that key press. But, all the *buntu flavors act that way.).

Installing the daily ISO Ubuntu 20.04 LTS "Focal Fossa" - Alpha amd64 (20200324) I don't have the message press "s" to skip media check and I have no way to skip it.

@corrado (msg #4), it sounds like you're using Ubuntu desktop. That problem is different (I've experienced it too), and apparently reported here:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plymouth/+bug/1867130

You can click "affects me" on that bug. (I think Budgie's problem is fixed. I need to try it again.).

This (media-check as a default) seems to have been rushed in without much thought. It doesn't work right. It ignores "s" while checking large files. If it finds an error, it doesn't wait for the user to confirm seeing that message (if the user isn't staring at the screen the whole time, they won't know). There is a discussion here, where they are also talking about the problem you've encountered (the message isn't even seen on Ubuntu Desktop):
