Bug Description

With the latest live release, starting takes around 4:30 to get to the jingle and around 5:40 to get Ubuntu up and running. With the version of 24-01-2020 instead 0:47 and 1:08 respectively. The boot time with the latest releases is exaggerated. Please check and correct the problem. Thank you.

This bug is missing log files that will aid in diagnosing the problem. While running an Ubuntu kernel (not a mainline or third-party kernel) please enter the following command in a terminal window:

apport-collect 1866745

and then change the status of the bug to 'Confirmed'.

If, due to the nature of the issue you have encountered, you are unable to run this command, please add a comment stating that fact and change the bug status to 'Confirmed'.

For me it depends on the fact that you have introduced the md5sum verification at startup which makes Ubuntu's actual startup very slow. Which I also found in a previous release of the beta version of focal. In the previous case studies the control was now displayed instead there is the start screen that masks this tedious control.
What is the purpose of an MD5sum check at every boot?

I'm not familiar with that new feature. Maybe someone from the kernel team can help...

In the meantime please remember to run:

  apport-collect 1866745

or at least run:

  dmesg > dmesg.txt

and attach the file 'dmesg.txt' here.
