Bug Description

HP ProBook 455 G6 (6MQ06EA#ACB)

Has been installed ubuntu-18.04.4-desctop-amd64, uname:
Linux probook 5.3.0-40-generic #32~18.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Mon Feb 3 14:05:59 UTC 2020 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

linux-generic-hwe-18.04: Installed: 5.3.0.40.97
linux-firmware: Installed: 1.173.15

After installation has been detected often 'screen freeze' or 'black screen' during boot time which can be avoided by hard reset only.

BIOS has been upgraded to latest version 01.09.00 Rev.A, 28 Oct 2019

For problem investigation has been disabled Xorg/GDM3 startup on boot time by:
systemctl set-default multi-user.target
And disable 'quet spalsh' kernel boot parameters in grub

Now I can see booting process and reboot system by [ctrl]+[alt]+[del] if terminal is freezing. And have system when I can successively booting one time per 3-9 attempts.

Bad boot attempts contain lines in /var/log/syslog (see attachment) like:

Try installing the latest firmware from git:

1. Make a backup of /lib/firmware
2. Download the latest firmware package e.g. https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/snapshot/linux-firmware-20200519.tar.gz
3. Unzip it
4. sudo make install
5. Reboot your system

If you're lucky like me and it makes your system stable, then remember to freeze the package 'linux-firmware' to prevent an update from overwriting your changes and making your system unstable again.

Hi Matias!
Thanks for your suggestion, but it did not help me ;(
Hangs are occurring periodically as with previous version of firmware.

In any way, thanks!
