Bug Description

I installed 19.10 on my computer which is connected to a KVM switch. The keyboard and mouse no longer work. They worked just fine with 19.04. What am I missing? I don't get any error messages or other indication of a problem....they just don't work.

I even went the route of installing 19.04 and upgrading to 19.10. also did version 18 and upgraded. Same issue. Tried a couple of KVM swtiches. All work fine in previous versions hooked up to a KVM switch, and so do my windows 10 systems and servers.

Since 19.04 is useless without patching I have to settle for version 18 or go to another linux based system like oracle. At some point for long term support 18 will go away and only 19 will be supported. Unless the kvm switch issue is resolved I and a WHOLE lot of others will be moving on to other versions of linux. I can have my business get shut down because of poor testing on Ubuntu's part that mice and keyboards in a data center all of sudden stop working through kvms.

Thank you.

I had (have) the same problem and finally just gave up on 19.10 and reinstalled 19.04. I tried to do a clean install because the 'update' failed. Well, I did it again when I was notified that 19.04 would no longer be updated and was offered the ability to 'update', Once again the 'update' failed so I am left with the need to do a clean install which I can't do because 19.10 does not support computers that use a KVM. Fortunately I use the computer to learn so it is not an absolute necessity to have it running Ubuntu 19.10. I do appreciate all the work that the developers do as it gives me a chance to learn without spending a lot of money so I hate to complain.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1862015/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.
