Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 1861237

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

affects: ubuntu → pulseaudio (Ubuntu)
Changed in pulseaudio (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete
no longer affects: kubuntu-meta (Ubuntu)

Yes, probably, but the bug needs to be assigned to pulseaudio to collect both Pulse and ALSA info when apport-collect gets run.

The reason why I didn't get to run ubuntu-bug or apport was because I was on my desktop when I made the report. Also, I just ran apport-collect 1861237. Where can I find the files and attach it here?

I do the same with ubuntu-bug. You can ssh from your desktop into the affected machine, run 'ubuntu-bug' on the affected machine and then follow the link and complete bug creation on your desktop. FYI for in future.

The 'apport-collect' command has attached the files automatically. It is showing the problem is that the kernel can't find a compatible driver so isn't offering any audio devices:

Interestingly bug 1847710 suggests that eoan (kernel 5.3) works, partially.

Yup. I can't control the volume at all, unless I use the audio plasmoid.

It is the problem of missing the firmware, the linux-firmware is going to include this firmware soon for 20.04.

Could you test if latest Focal kernel and firmware fix this issue?

Probably kernel-5.4.0.15 will have all needed patches for supporting sof driver. But the sof-firmware has not been integrated to linux-firmware. So when .15 kernel is ready, we could manually install the firmware and alsa-ucm-conf to test.
