Bug Description

Binary package hint: awn-manager

On hardy (updated today) installing awn-manager did not pull in said dependencies (python-glade2 and libimage-librsvg-perl) so, when i attempted to run without either of them it failed to start, saying could not find module named glade, then after i installed python-glade2 it failed to start saying " File "/usr/bin/awn-manager", line 200, in <module>
    awnmanager = AwnManager()
  File "/usr/bin/awn-manager", line 95, in __init__
    self.appletManager = awnApplet(self.wTree)
  File "/usr/share/avant-window-navigator/awn-manager/awnApplet.py", line 76, in __init__
    self.make_model()
  File "/usr/share/avant-window-navigator/awn-manager/awnApplet.py", line 352, in make_model
    self.refresh_tree (applets)
  File "/usr/share/avant-window-navigator/awn-manager/awnApplet.py", line 416, in refresh_tree
    icon, text = self.make_row(path)
  File "/usr/share/avant-window-navigator/awn-manager/awnApplet.py", line 361, in make_row
    return self.make_icon (item.get_string(gnomedesktop.KEY_ICON)), text
  File "/usr/share/avant-window-navigator/awn-manager/awnApplet.py", line 381, in make_icon
    icon = gtk.gdk.pixbuf_new_from_file_at_size (name, 32, 32)
gobject.GError: Unrecognized image file format"

after installing libimage-librsvg-perl it starts and works fine.

I think SOMEONE should have tested this thing in pbuilder before it was added because it would most likely fail (i don't have one setup to put it through to test).

duh i forgot pbuilder only works if its missing a bdep. well, just add these packages as deps now.

@Knorr

Is librsvg2-common package installed on your system ?
Do you have the same error with it ?

The librsvg2-common library is and was installed on my system. No change, still same error.

Ok, so some more questions :)

- What is your Ubuntu version (Kubuntu, Xubuntu etc ...) ?
- Is your Hardy installation up to date ?
- Do you have gnome-menus and python-gmenus installed ?
- Could you copy/paste the exact error message ?

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm running Ubuntu 8.04.

I run apt-get update, apt-get upgrade several times a day, so Hardy is up to date.
I have gnome-menu 2.21.5-0ubuntu1 and python-menu 2.21.5-0ubuntu1 installed.

librsvg2-common version is 2.20.0-1.

My error message is identical to the one reported in this bug.

New version was uploaded. Can you test it and see if the problem is still here ?

Thanks for the test.

Could you test with the last Live-CD ? It seems to be a svg problem on your system rather than awn-manager problem (like this bug : https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/screenlets/+bug/194056)

The awn-manager works out of the box with the live CD, so yes. It must be a svg problem.

Perhaps it's time for a clean install. One can hope the process of setting up 64bit Ubuntu has gotten a lot easier since Feisty.
