Bug Description

Release:

DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=7.10
DISTRIB_CODENAME=gutsy
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 7.10"

Basically, I'm running the Creative Live! External Soundblaster 24-bit (USB): http://www.soundblaster.com/products/product.asp?category=1&subcategory=206&product=10702

and I don't get any sound on Youtube (or other flash files).

I've tried the aoss fix, among others. Nothing works. I've also tried a manual install of the .so file from Adobe on the advice of tito. Nothing works.

A fix would be appreciated :).

lsusb.txt will be attached.

Make sure your sound card is defined to be the default one. See `asoundconf set-default-card` in a Terminal, follow its directions, then restart your Web browser.

Changed in flashplugin-nonfree:
status: New → Invalid

I tried that, now I don't get ANY sound.

When I go to System > Preferences > Sound and press test (no matter which is selected, USB Audio, OSS or Alsa, ESD, Autodetect etc) I get these error messages:

audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink: Could not open resource for writing.

audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink profile=music: Could not open resource for writing.

audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink profile=chat: Could not open resource for writing.

Help please! I need my sound back ASAP! :(

The suggested command from Daniel T Chen stopped all playback from ALSA and OSS. I am now having to reinstall the operating system as I cannot find a solution.
