Bug Description

In Focal the network password / passphrase entry form has no way of displaying what is being typed.

I'd expect a checkbox or something...

Thank you for the bug report, you should be able to find an item to show the password in the right click menu, that's not obvious though which is reported upstream on https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/issues/1022

The issue is fixed in git (adding an icon to click in the entry), the fix should land in Ubuntu with the next updates

It's actually fixed also in previous version, just right-click the entry (or press down-arrow) and you will be able to see the password.

Ignore the "notfixing" part then. A solution is already released and a _better_ solution is still coming in gnome-shell 3.36.

This bug was fixed in the package gnome-shell - 3.35.91-1ubuntu2

---------------
gnome-shell (3.35.91-1ubuntu2) focal; urgency=medium

  * control: Bump Breaks on appindicator and desktop-icons.
These have been updated for GNOME 3.36

gnome-shell (3.35.91-1ubuntu1) focal; urgency=medium

  * Merge with Debian. Remaining changes:
+ Replace gnome-backgrounds dep with ubuntu-wallpapers and Suggests
