Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

A recent change broke the ability to drag and drop URLs from Firefox to the Gnome desktop. Attempting to do so results in:

    Drag and drop is only supported on local file systems"

when trying to drop the URL.

Likewise, URLs (.desktop Link entries that I had previously dragged to the desktop using Firefox earlier while testing Hardy Alpha 3, no longer open Firefox. An example of this would be:

[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=Bugs in The Hardy Heron
Type=Link

As of tonight, with all updates installed, desktop URLs launch Firefox, so that's fixed. But I still cannot drag URLs from Firefox to the Desktop. Should probably have created two bug entries.

Thanks for the update. I read the upstream defect, and can report that at least as of now (I've already installed all of tonight's updates, and hadn't tried it before), although I cannot drag URLs to the Desktop*, I can drag URLs to other folders.

* Actually, I can drag to the Desktop as a folder in the File Browser, just not as the Gnome Desktop.
