Unable to add printer on Focal

I bought a new laptop and put Ubuntu Focal 20.04 on it. I installed hplip-gui so I can use the wizard to add my HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw. The wizard sees the printer but when I click "Add Printer" nothing happens. There are no logs or error messages, it just sits there.

Thank you for your bug report, could you add your 'journalctl -b 0 ' log to the bug after trying to add a printer?

The problem could be due to cups-browsed being broken at the moment on focal... Till any idea there?

Is your "wizard" hp-setup?

Please run

hp-setup --debug

in a terminal window (or if you called another program of HPLIP, run it with the "--debug" option in a terminal now).

Please go the steps which you have taken at first, when you hit the problem. When done, post the terminal output here.

I have added HPLIP upstream to this bug report.

Yes it is. Looks like a Python 2 code path is being used while running with Python 3.

The printing support of the newest HPLIP version (3.21.8) is also contained in the current Printer Applications (new format for printer drivers, OS-distribution-independent):
