Bug Description

I've recently noticed that when using Chromium to upload files to Google Drive (and other sites), I see that the file upload or ‘Open Files’ dialog doesn’t display an icon against ~/Documents in the folder and file list. An icon is displayed when using Firefox or Google Chrome.

I've noted this on Ubuntu, Kubuntu and Xubuntu 20.04.

Thanks for the report Paul. Can you please share a screenshot? What icon theme are you using?

I tested in a clean 20.04 VM (regular Ubuntu with default GNOME desktop and Yaru theme), and there is an icon for ~/Documents in the file upload dialog.

Hi Olivier, screenshot attached using the Adwaita theme on Ubuntu 20.04.

However, I do see the icon for ~/Documents when using the Yaru theme.

For Kubuntu, which I don't have readily available the theme would be whatever the default is. For Xubuntu the theme is 'elementary Xfce darker' which I think is the default.

I can confirm that with Adwaita there is no icon for ~/Documents. That's not in the left panel of the file open dialog as I initially thought, but in the files view on the right when browsing the user's home.

Changed in chromium-browser (Ubuntu):
status: Incomplete → Confirmed
summary: - [snap] icon missing against ~/Documents in file upload dialog
