A duplicate bug report to this might have been reported recently (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pidgin/+bug/221256)

However no mention of the crash relating to file transfer. Also version of Pidgin is different (1:2.4.1-2ubuntu1)

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 or 9.04?
