Unable to paste files from Nautilus to the desktop

Bug Description

1) Ubuntu 19.10
2) Files app 1:3.34.1-1ubuntu1
3) Open Files app. Copy file. Right click on Desktop. Select paste.
4) Unable to paste the file to the desktop.

Pasting to the desktop also works for me in 19.10.

Are you trying to paste a file with unusual permissions?

I am trying to paste a text file.

1) Click text file in Documents.
2) Right click on text file.
3) Click copy.
4) Click on Desktop.
5) Right click on Desktop.
6) Paste is grayed out.

I can paste to the Desktop in Nautilus.

1) Click text file in Documents.
2) Right click on text file.
3) Click copy.
4) Click Home.
5) Click Desktop.
6) Right click on Desktop.
7) Click Paste into Folder.
8) File is successfully copy to Desktop.

Weird. It's working for me on multiple machines. Something must be different about your situation.

If I save a text document to the Desktop, and then copy that text document on the Desktop, I can paste the duplicate text document to the Desktop.

I am using Wayland. In System Monitor, Xwayland has the process id: 1785.

I thought the problem might be only on Wayland. I logged out and switched to Xorg. It did NOT fix the problem. I restarted. It still did NOT fix the problem.

Confirmed I can reproduce the bug in a Wayland session on 20.04.
