Please re-add gcc-2.95 to Hardy

Binary package hint: gcc-2.95

Hello.

I just upgraded to Hardy the other day and had to discover that epsxe (www.epsxe.com) had stopped working. After some searching I found out that the file libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 was missing from my system which was needed to run one of the sound plugins, libSPUEternal.so. Some more searching revealed that this particular file was once inside the package libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2 which isn't included in Hardy aymore.

Unfortunately it is impossible to recompile libSPUEternal.so, because of its closed-source nature (being built in 2003) and the project being long dead. Nevertheless its emulation accuracy and sound quality is still unmatched and it would be a shame to lose the ability to use it.

So please re-include at least the library I was talking about into Hardy.

It looks like it failed to build on feisty and gutsy and has been superseded in hardy. With this in mind I really can't see us including it. If it's that particular binary you need then you can probably download from somewhere and install it manually.

Hmm...

I tested it and apparently you are right. It fails to build from source. However, it seems that at least the package libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2 is binary compatible to Hardy, so it would be sufficient for most applications affected by this to copy/paste that one package to the Hardy repos.

This library is also needed to install Websphere 5.6.1 on a system. I was running into the same problem trying to find it for Hardy.

So this package is a ftbfs but it's a really old version, so I personally think that this bug should be marked as invalid, or maybe won't fix, since I don't think anybody will take care of it because hardy will reach soon its EOL.

So I'm setting as incomplete for now.
