Bug Description
I'm running Ubuntu (Gnome-shell) 20.04 in a QEMU/KVM vm.
When I'm using Wayland, I can open synaptic package manager successfully by inputting my password.
So far as I can tell, it then will let me download updates to the repos and allow me to search for packages. (Usually update-manager downloads the updates automatically, so it's mostly not necessary for synaptic to do this.
But, when I proceed to install, unless it's a single, small download, synaptic will lock up the display. The mouse "revolving wheel" stops turning, and although I can still move the mouse, nothing else works. I can't select anything with the mouse. I can't even use "Send Key" in the virtual machine manager to select a console.
If I leave the machine for a while, the download and install completes successfully in the background.
If I connect to the machine over ssh, I can't shut it down or reboot. If I issue those commands, ssh just disconnects and the machine remains running. Only the big red button in the virtual machine manager will do anything.
None of this is happening when running Xorg.
After further investigation, I've decided that this is another issue that's not a synaptic or wayland bug, but a problem with the VM video driver. I'm marking this as invalid.
