Bug Description

The minimum dependency versions required by gEDA/gaf are quite old and should be set to something that is tested on a somewhat regular basis, e.g. the versions included in Debian oldstable or even stable.

Also, Alan Corey remarked that "somebody should run ldd on the current gschem and look at the libraries it's using".

I totally agree. Dependencies should only allow versions that stand a realistic chance to at least get a cursory compile test. A few weeks ago i got hurt by a similar situation with gitea. Their config script allowed my very outdated version of postgres. However, the application crashed further down the line because of incompatibilities. Turned out that none of the developers had actually tested the application with my version of postgres.

Versions included in Debian/oldstable look like a reasonable choice. It is a moving target as it should be. And Debian developers are known for their very conservative approach.
