Bug Description

It has been slow before, but always has done the job, even getting the newest nvidia driver from https://launchpad.net/~graphics-drivers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa

I have the same issue (with the same general system setup).
I found a Stack Exchange answer with a solution that works between reboots, which is to run `update-apt-xapian-index` (see https://askubuntu.com/a/766689/753115), hope it might help in figuring out the underlying cause and find a permanent solution.

This bug is also present in Kubuntu 20.04 on Kernel 5.5-rc3. sudo update-apt-xapian-index works, no need to restart, just close the app. Your computer requires no proprietary drivers is displayed after a few seconds. Ryzen 2700U, Raven Vega10.

The given command line fixes also <<Additional Drivers>> in Software Sources. Scans OK now.

sudo update-apt-xapian-index works on 19.10 before launching Driver Manager. From Googling around, it would appear that this bug has existed in one form or another for years and years. Hopefully fairly simple to resolve now that somebody has identified a solution?

For Kubuntu 20.04-20200224-KDE 5.18.2, the bug is gone. Requires root password now to enter software sources (from settings/device manager) and launches Addional Drivers. Scans properly.

Nice correction, thanks!
