Evolution using large amount of resident RAM in Hardy

Bug Description

Evolution, if left open during the day, will eventually eat up memory like it's cheap movie theater popcorn. In about 4 hours today it grew to 1.5GB virtual and 1.0GB resident. Restarting it and opening the same mailbox takes back down to 513MB virtual and 31MB resident. This occurs when connecting with the exchange connector.

I went ahead and did it but this is a different version of Evolution. It's now just super slow. I opened up another but because I don't see the RAM usage like before.

I should add Evolution no longer stays open long enough to eat up the RAM, so maybe this is a fix afterall :)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Hardy Heron. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

I'm using Hardy and I'm having a similar problem. If I leave Evolution open and minimized, it seems to be all ok for quite some time, but if I try to plug in an usb external drive or, say, change the wallpaper (and when I want to change wallpaper I might spend some time with the appearance window open), Evolution starts using 500mb of ram! Sometimes (that goes for when I plug an external drive) I can't even get it closed, because the system hangs entirely, so the only option I have left is to force a reboot.

At first I thought it was something with the external drives (well, maybe it is), but just now it happened when I had the appearance window open, and when at last I could close it and open the system monitor, I noticed how much ram Evolution was using, and it was minimized!

I'm not much of a geek expert, but let me know if there's anything I can do to help.
