Bug Description

Ralink provides Linux drivers for some of their wireless cards that are not supported by the rt2x00 drivers:

http://www.ralinktech.com/ralink/Home/Support/Linux.html

It would be great if these drivers were available as Ubuntu packages.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in linux which is the kernel for Hardy Heron.

As far as i can tell the rt2x00 drivers do not support the rt2870 chipset. the backported modules don't appear to work, even when manually loading the rt2x00usb module.

Here is a patch to the v1.3.1.0 driver from ralink to allow it to compile under linux kernels > 2.6.26. I have only done minimal testing, it is working well for me.

The RT2x00 serial monkey driver does not work on my rt2870 chipset. AFAIK they work on the 25xx series devices and not on the 28xx series.

Only want to say that my rt2870 works perfectly with the package created from rt28xx-linux-sta. Thanks! Best would be to set up a PPA, to also provide binary packages.
