trying to install update to OS in Ubuntu Software app 3.20.5. I'm using 16.04 LTS.
Click the install button, nothing happens.

Thanks for filing this bug in ubuntu.

It's unclear why this error happened. May I suggest you run the following to see if that fixes it:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get -f install

You could also try to reinstall the libmspack package:
sudo apt-get install --reinstall libmspack0:i386

I just deployed a fresh xenial container, which btw already had libmspack0 installed, but for the amd64 arch. I then added i386, and installed libmspack0:i386, and that worked flawlessly:

root@x1:~# dpkg --add-architecture i386
root@x1:~# apt-get update
(...)
root@x1:~# apt-get install libmspack0:i386
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following package was automatically installed and is no longer required:
  libfreetype6

Thanks for the information and help. Decided to give it one last try and suddenly started to work. Is currently installing my upgrade to 18.04.
