Thanks for filing this bug in ubuntu.
It's unclear why this error happened. May I suggest you run the following to see if that fixes it:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get -f install
You could also try to reinstall the libmspack package:
sudo apt-get install --reinstall libmspack0:i386
I just deployed a fresh xenial container, which btw already had libmspack0 installed, but for the amd64 arch. I then added i386, and installed libmspack0:i386, and that worked flawlessly:
root@x1:~# dpkg --add-architecture i386 16.04.4 amd64 library for Microsoft compression formats (shared library) 16.04.4 i386 library for Microsoft compression formats (shared library)
root@x1:~# apt-get update
(...)
root@x1:~# apt-get install libmspack0:i386
