Bug Description

When Hoary installed on my system it chose the snd_emu10k1 driver for my
soundblaster live value card. Playing quicktime files with xine resulted in
broken audio, playing, blank, playing, blank, over and over again. Blank pieces
of the audio.

Plus, xmms wouldn't play right on install as it expected a /dev/dsp device file.

I removed the alsa drivers and loaded the emu10k1 OSS driver. Since then
everything works perfectly, except I get a ton of complains from the alsa
initscript on boot and shutdown, so I disabled it.

I haven't tried. Most multimedia functionality in Hoary is broken for me, so I
went to another distro on that box.

Mind you, on CentOS 4.1, running kernel 2.6.9 and alsa 1.0.6-5, it works great.

Perhaps I can confirm this somehow using the live cd?
