Hi bb,

Would you be able to run the following commands, and attach their output to this bug report, please?

`systemctl status smbd.service`
`journalctl -xe`

Offhand, from the AptOrdering.txt file attached to this bug it looks like the upgrade may have been trying to ask you a question about how to handle your samba configuration, and timed out or something. If this is true, you might be able to get your upgrade back on track via running `sudo apt-get -f install` from a terminal window.

I also notice an error in the CIFSMounts.txt file, although that might be an unrelated programming error (i.e. trying to pass a pipe character to the mount command).

Hi Bryce,

I was able to resolve by following this guide

https://askubuntu.com/questions/225786/how-do-i-re-install-samba#225802

|sudo apt-get purge samba samba-common sudo apt-get install samba |

I do not recall changing anything in smb.conf except the following

|[GLOBAL] client min protocol = SMB2 client max protocol = SMB3|

I believe I was following
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1009455/smb-2-or-3-with-samba-version-4-3-11

and the goal was to mount SMB2 share (but it never worked).

After reinstalling samba the error appears to be gone.

Regards,

Bojidar
