Bug Description

Window managers may have several kinds and options to tune for every aspect graphical programs use. Most programs use libraries to provide toolsets of common things. GTK+ and Qt3 are examples.

I use a dark background theme with Mate Desktop, and most programs use the colors i did setup with Mate itself. But some programs do not respect that, and need change (or i will not like to use them, and probably will not, if i have alternatives).

Bazaar explorer seemed initially fine for my colors, besides it being made in Qt, which was a surprise for me. Other Qt programs i have met before were completely alien looking in my desktop. Maybe what is needed to make it completely fine for such cases is close to be done.

The diff windows are basically unreadable, unless i do "forcing" things like selecting the unreadable text to see what is inside it.

I am sending you 2 screenshots. The first one, is the initial bzr-explorer window in my desktop. It is almost find. The font colors are not as good as can be in the dark background, but are close to acceptable. But the diff window, in the second screenshot, shows a pretty worse situation.

The easier to develop solution I imagine for this is to make those colors the default. But all these default colors could be chosen to be: inherited by the environment; manually chosen with a user profile set of values. Themes are a nice idea (Telegram does not inherit anything from the environment and its colors, except the open/save file windows; but it has themes to satisfy everyone), but may take time to develop. Thus, I prefer the "overridenable colors" solution.

Now i noticed that i have made a *big* basic error in the bug title. It should be written "if user desktop have a DARK background theme", instead of "hard background", which may not be understood as it should. Is there a way to edit it?

See the comment #2 i added in 2019/12/20:

Should another bug be open, with the word error fixed? This bug report seems abandoned.
