Bug Description

Hi guys,

thanks for the great software. Please don’t listen to the few idiots who complain about it. In fact I think no changes will be needed in a long time(20 years :D).

Here is 1 suggestion from me:

select a hierarchical sheet or multiple components in the schematic(Eeschema) and right-click -> exclude from PCB.

This have to be in mind for the new Pcbnew DRC. Sometimes I also add some battery symbol and so on to generate the BOM / assembly documentation.
Allow to exclude of the PCB will allow to control this kind of warning.

This is already possible, see the doc:
http://docs.kicad-pcb.org/master/en/eeschema/eeschema.html

"The symbol reference is #+5V. The reference text is not important except the first character which must be # to indicate that the symbol is a power symbol. By convention, every symbol in which the reference field starts with a # will not appear in the symbol list or in the netlist and the reference is declared as invisible."

I'm pretty sure this is a duplicate bug report. The new schematic file format will have a do not export to board (or BOM only if you prefer) option for adding symbols for bill of materials generation.

As far as I can see the new "DNF" property fills only half of that need. I don't find a way to bulk edit symbol fields (other than grouped by ref/value combination)in Edit Symbol Fields dialog.

I think a more generic approach would be better, meaning being able to select a group of symbols and editing any field of all of them at once. For the original request to be fullfilled it should be possible to group by hierarchical sheet, or possibly to automatically select in the dialog list those symbols which are selected in the schematic.
