cgmail (0.5-1) hardy; urgency=low

  * New upstream release
    - New build system: Now using python setuptools and distutils-extra
    - New plugin like system: Each checker now is fully independent. Third
      party plugins could be implemented.
    - Labels support in Gmail: Gmail checker now support labels checking
    - Dropped awn support: awn notification support is dropped becouse
      unmaintained
    - Pertinent actions: Only pertinent actions will be displayed on
notification bubbles. No more "go to gmail account" for pop3 or imap
      accounts
  * Add (unintentionally removed on last upload) debian/watch

How is the development going?

Is there any help needed, I know a bit about packaging (not much though). I would love to see the new version in Intrepid.

Just noticed that the Debian Maintainer has an @ubuntu.com address and a Launchpad account. Subscribing him so that perhaps he could weigh in....

Thanks Andrew =D

I have made the package against Debian Unstable. I will try to get into debian and request sync to Ubuntu before christmas. The package is build in my PPA. It is NMU. Is that appropriate version?

I did write email to Andrea and will write on debian bug tracker now as well.

I don't like switching from debhelper to CDBS for Ubuntu packaging, I think it's much better to simply update the version and leave debianization as is. If you want, you can adopt package in Debian and do this kind of change there, Andrea is no longer active (sigh!) and could give this package away for maintenance.

I'm going through MIA process now and I'm intending to adopt this package. I do understand your reasoning. Thank you for commenting.

Packaging now lives here for now:

Vcs-Browser: http://repo.or.cz/w/cgmail.git
Vcs-Git: git://repo.or.cz/cgmail.git

For anyone interested.

I gonna take care of this package again. New upstream release will be soon uploaded into Debian and then directly synced into Ubuntu.

Hi Andrea, the source .gz downloaded from http://cgmail.tuxfamily.org/#download is not out-of-the-box for jaunty (karmic too??), then, please, read changelog of the my jaunty package:
  * Bug fixed: No autostart of cgmailservice, corrected cgmailservice.desktop
  * Bug fixed: Correct word in Italian translation
  * Bug Fixed: The application does not start in jaunty, changed the installation path of the data directory in lib/common.py and according to the setup.py

The .diff.gz in attachment (for karmic package)

Actually latest cgmail version won't be uploaded into jaunty (there won't be a backport for it too cause some deps and build problems) but only into karmic. Anyway really soon I gonna ask to have it synced from Debian. (just waiting to have a minor fix uploaded to have it running well again)

Right, actually I just wanted to point out that in creating the package for jaunty (found in my ppa) I had found the problems reported and, very probably, the same will be present in the package for karmic.
The file .diff.gz that I had posted is for a karmic package, not for jaunty.
However, I don't know very well the process for a new upstream release, specialy when it is updated in Debian and synched in Ubuntu.
