Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1843873/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

This bug is missing log files that will aid in diagnosing the problem. While running an Ubuntu kernel (not a mainline or third-party kernel) please enter the following command in a terminal window:

apport-collect 1843873

and then change the status of the bug to 'Confirmed'.

If, due to the nature of the issue you have encountered, you are unable to run this command, please add a comment stating that fact and change the bug status to 'Confirmed'.

Is the issue still present if the all packages are up to date?

Manuel (wayfactory) wrote :

Yes, still present. I got the same problem with Kubuntu 19.10 up to date. Sound is creepy sometimes via HDMI with Hades Intel NUC.

Today I've tested a little bit with that kernel v5.5-rc5 and the creepy sound seems to be disappeared. I will continue testing a little bit more, but finally sound seems to work flawlessly.

Finally I can confirm that issue has been fixed with kernel 5.5-rc5 suggested by Kai-Heng Feng.
Thank you very much.

I just tried Linux 5.5.2-1 on Manjaro. Squeaky sound is still there. The sound is fine on Windows 10

Tried again with Ubuntu 18.04 upgraded the kernal to 5.5.0-050500-generic still having problems, also tried the following drivers

https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/radeon-rx-vega-series/radeon-rx-vega-series/radeon-rx-vega-64

As per the link from this page

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28600/Radeon-RX-Vega-M-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-64-bit-for-NUC8i7HNK-NUC8i7HVK?product=126143

They didn't work but then again these are drivers for vega-64 rather than vega-M
