Bug Description

Hi,

there is the function "Resize Memory of Guest". This function resize the memory effective to the guest. We are now in the situation that the overall size of the guest needs to be enlarged, so the second memory parameter of a guest, so in the case below the 4G needs to be bigger:
USER GUEST LBLONY 2G 4G G

Is it possible to add a parameter to this function which will allow this? It is only here necessary because a logoff - logon is needed to make the change effective.

Thanks in advance
Herald ten Dam

that's a z/VM restriction , you can't change the 4G to 8G without a logoff and logon as far as I can tell..

That is what I mention with the last lines, it is indeed necessary (that is why to put it in the function "live_resize_mem" is not an option). But I have no option with CC to change the maximum at the moment, I have to go to z/VM to change the definition of the guest. If this function is not the right one, then we need some kind of other function like "redefine_guest".

Thanks
Herald

In current implementation, you can set user_default_max_memory to a bigger value, then new deployed virtual machines will not have this trouble. For existing vms, no option other than change it manually ...
