system-config-printer always does a reverse dns when adding or modifying a ipp printer

I'm running a local dns server with some problems in reverse dns

On my server cups is not set to listen to to requests to the reverse dns name, only to its ip.
This means that I had to manually change /etc/cups/printers.conf to enter the ip instead of the hostname.

What are your arguments against this procedure (besides a potential apparent "slowness")?
