Bug Description
Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-core
After installing the most recent security update to X.org, Eclipse Europa (installed from tarball) fails to start. If I run it from the console, I see this:
The program 'Eclipse' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
(Details: serial 1272 error_code 11 request_code 148 minor_code 5)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
The updated packages which I suspect caused this regression are the ones mentioned in security notice USN-571-1. Namely:
* libxfont1 1:1.3.0-0ubuntu1.1
* xserver-xorg-core 2:1.3.0.
Although I don't know for sure if these are the culprits because a few other packages were upgraded at the same time. The error is certainly related to X.
