Bug Description

When I open the terminal or typing within, gnome sometimes freezes for a few seconds.
This only happens when I use the kernel 5.0.0 or above. Using 4.15 kernel the terminal works well.
Getting log bellow.

journalctl -f:

I am experiencing this same issue with a fresh install of Ubuntu 20.04 when I select wayland to log in to my desktop. It's triggering by typing. Every few seconds, the system will pause slightly before registering my keypress. It makes basic typing very frustrating.

Linux kumamoto 5.4.0-29-generic #33-Ubuntu SMP Wed Apr 29 14:32:27 UTC 2020 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

If I open only the "Text Editor" program and start typing into it, with no other applications open, and I open a terminal window with "tail -f /var/log/syslog", I see these entries every few seconds:

May 16 12:19:30 kumamoto gnome-shell[3342]: Window manager warning: last_user_time (1908107) is greater than comparison timestamp (1907948). This most likely represents a buggy client sending inaccurate timestamps in messages such as _NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW. Trying to work around...

This ONLY happens in wayland. It doesn't happen if I use the regular X server.

This bug has been assigned to the kernel because it was found that kernel version 4.15 does not have the bug. If you don't find the same then please open a separate bug.

Gil: Please run 'apport-collect 1841316' on the affected machine, if the problem is still happening.

Everyone else: Given this issue is two years old and likely not the same issue in releases after 18.04, please open your own new bugs by running:
