Are you saying that you need to install ubuntu-restricted-extras in order to hear audio from Radiko or that additional codecs needs to be added to ubuntu-restricted-extras?

Dear Paul.

I do not install ubuntu-restricted-extras.
forums.MozillaZine.jp member answered that
ubuntu-restricted-extras installed, resolved Radiko streaming hear.

I think it is patent issue, and could not resovle easy for Firefox
in ubuntu package. But proprietary version Firefox for Linux include
ubuntu, video/mp4 example codecs="mp4a.40.5" include Firefox package.
it is as same as Chrome.

Dear Paul.

I bootup ubuntu-18.04.2 iso image, and used for LiveCD.
bootup ubuntu-18.04 and startup Firefox.

LIveCD Firefox environment can show Youtube contents,
but cannot hear RADIKO streaming.

I want to hear RADIKO streaming use to Ubuntu LiveCD,
and ubuntu default environment hear RADIKO use to Firefox.

Seiichi,

I'm marking the "linux" component of this bug report as "Invalid" as you are not reporting a bug with the Linux kernel.

Not all codecs are included in a default installation of Ubuntu due to copyright or legal issues in some countries. Other Linux distributions are affected in the same way. If after installing ubuntu-restricted-extras you can hear Radiko then this is not a bug in Firefox as far as Ubuntu is concerned. You will find the same issues when using Chromium, Epiphany or any other web browser included in the Ubuntu repositories.

I'm closing the Firefox bug too as you have confirmed that you can hear Rdaiko by installing "ubuntu-restricted-extras".

Seiichi,
I'm reverting the status of these bug tasks:
 - this is not a bug in the linux kernel itself
 - as for firefox, as Paul explained the default installation of Ubuntu cannot, for various reasons (including legal ones), pre-install all codecs.

Can you please confirm that after installing ubuntu-restricted-extras you are able to listen to that radio?

Thank you for the feedback Seiichi.

I'm consequenqly marking the bug invalid, as it's not something that can be fixed in the firefox package.
