Bug Description

We have a network that's working fine with 2 other linux machines and an XP laptop. For some reason though the ipw2100 card on my HP tc1100 laptop sees the network but doesn't seem to request IP addresses properly from dhcp.

dhclient ends up with:

No DHCPOFFERS received.
Trying recorded lease 192.168.2.3
PING 192.168.2.1 (192.168.2.1) 56(84) bytes of data.

--- 192.168.2.1 ping statistics ---
1 packets transmitted, 0 received, +1 errors, 100% packet loss, time 0ms

No working leases in persistant database. Sleeping.

The modem is turned on (it was working previously and the wireless light activates). Networkmanager even sees the session ID but it stops at 28% configuring device. It's similar looking to bug #30712 but on gutsy and its definately not currently resolved.

The Hardy Heron Alpha series is currently under development and contains an updated version of the kernel. It would be helpful if you could test the latest Hardy Alpha release: http://www.ubuntu.com/testing . You should be able to then test the new kernel via the LiveCD. If you can, please verify if this bug still exists or not and report back your results. Thanks.

Can you confirm this bug on Ubuntu Hardy. Else, as there seems to be no activity on this bug, it can be closed as invalid.

Hi,

I finally had the opportunity to test with the latest Hardy... Good news! It works. I tried a space in the SSID, multiple spaces, then spaces and special characters with a multi space SSID using WPA2... perfect every time.

Great job by whoever was behind this fix. All is good.
