I've noticed a similar crash quite a few times in a row. An invalid pointer crash seems to be reproducable this way. Some points might be useless and I think its related to the "rectangle select" not being cleared properly (some unusual things are happening here)

1. Open a PNG image in Pinta
2. Select the "Rectangle Select"
3. Go to filter -> blur -> gaussian blur -> set to 14 and blur
4. Save image
5. Open another image
6. Notice that the rectangle select is no longer visible, but hovering over the original points still generates a "hand / drag" cursor at that point
7. Dragging a new rectangle seems to crash the application now

Not sure if this is related, but also seeing a similar invalid pointer error.
