Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

Since the upgrade of Hardy on Jan.15th i cannot send / receive any mail with evolution.
I have a POP3 account with unencrypted password connection and a SMTP alike.
Using Thunderbird with the same account data gives no problems at all so i am very shure that
there is no typo in configuration or so.
And i could send / receive mail with evo before the updates.
I cannot see any obvious altering of programs after the update took place.
I reinstalled the evolution related packages to no avail.
Funny thing is that if i wireshark the evolution POP connection it seems as if the
mailserver is tagged by evo and responses and before any data are exchanged
evo sends a QUIT message.
I am not too deep into that package so i cannot give any better analysis.
I wouldn't have opened a bug report if Thunderbird had the same behaviour so one could
conclude that it has something to do with extreme alpha situation of Hardy.
Ok. Thanks alot for your help !

Hello !

No, i do not have the password(s) stored.
I type both POP and SMTP pws in every time.
I even used "forget passwords" to make everything clean.

I have had this problem for a week or so in Hardy. I have two email accounts from different providers and the problem exists with both of them. I have installed all available updates and also restarted the system just to be sure.

I have the same problem as well. I have found that if I restore evolution from backup, I cans send and receive mail for a short time? After that the send/receive icon greys out. All updates have been installed todate.

don't comment on a closed bug, and you should check that you are not using the offline setting

FYI..I have found that the problem presents itself after the Dell
Inspiron 6000 is restarted after the system was suspended. Evolution
will have the send/receive button grayed out. If you run evolution
restore from the desktop, the problem is then resolved. This is just for
your information.
Thank you for checking back.

Sebastian is right. Please check that you are not using the offline setting.
Anyway it is true that offline mode have been set after the upgrade, one thing that shouldn't have happened....because all the people thought it was one bug...

Quick solution is that it is definitely the off-line mode that disables the "send receive" button!
