Bug Description

There's an upstream bug for this, however it seems like Ubuntu should provide a package even if Debian doesn't. Not sure what needs to happen to make this work. Seems relatively straightforward?

Thank you for your bug report, could you describe what usecase/situation that would help with?

I've copied in the question I linked on stackoverflow. The current instructions require you to build the code from source (though the code is installed by git I think, it must be compiled.) The point here is providing precompiled binaries.

Neither of the URLs you listed starts by stating the problem, imho it would help to the state the goal/impact if you want to get interest in the issue (otherwise people are just going to glance, don't understand the request and close it)

The question I linked is the root problem. "What is the correct way to use git with gnome-keyring and http(s) repos?" Providing precompiled binaries for git-credential-gnome-keyring would solve the problem.
