Some times the user mangement module isn't available on the system. It's available again after leaving "System configuration" and restarting "System configuration" again.

The same version works on an old COMPAQ Deskpro EN 1 GHz 512MB RAM without errors.

Printer configuration in Kbuntu allows to configure different printers as a local USB, seriell or parallel port printer as well as a serial Fax/ modemprinter. These options aren't available with the ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe.
Other devices like USB-Sticks work perfekt.

CUPS crashes also if a Realtek RTL-8139/8139C 100 MBit Ethernet controller (PCMCIA) is used in an old Notebook PII 400 MHz RAM 256 MB Intel BX Chipset, if you try to print o network printer.
Using the same Notebook with a 3COM 3CCE589ET 10 MBit Ethernet controller CUPS works fine.
Recognized bug: The default installation works fine with Intel and 3COM Ethernet Controllern. Using a realtek RTL-8139/8139C or a Nvidia Ethernet controller MCP55 (rev.a3)the crash occures if a network printer is installied with add a printer or a printerclass. After that ervery printer test crashes.
Work around:
1. Configure the printserver (Wekcome ok, server ok, network ok, safty ok, log ok, print queue ok, filter ok, folder ok, search network click ok,
2. Add a printer
3. Make a test print
4. Switch to the print queue
5. Stop the print process
6. Restart the print process

The work arround can be used with the two Ethernet controllers above sucessfully.

What do you mean by "crash"? do you get a core file? what is the actual error?

Could you look at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems and set debug in CUPS error_log and attach the file?

 Crash means in this context: You couldn'nt print with CUPS on a network printer because the network printer couldn't be connected.I guess it is in both cases a problem with the interupts of the network adapters chipse, if you try to continue the default installation process of a printer using CUPS. Workaround see above.

Before I created these printbuginfo file, I didn't change anything of my now fine working configuration.
Which was configured as described below:
1. Configure the printserver (Welcome ok, server ok, network ok, safty ok, log ok, print queue ok, filter ok, folder ok, search network click ok,
 2. Add a printer
 3. Make a test print
 4. Switch to the print queue
 5. Stop the print process
 6. Restart the print process

A SAMSUNG Laserprinter ML6060 conected to the local network with an DLINK printserver DP301P+.
