Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image

When booting a standard ubuntu kernels for hardy alpha (same for gutsy btw), tickless idle is not working. Attached kern.log contains multiple lines that sound suspicious, but I can't figure out which is responsible. I will also attach /proc/timer_list. Kernel is 2.6.24-3, it occurs for both x86 and x86_64 versions.

If there is anything I can do to help find the cause, I'll be happy to do so.
Thanks in advance, Harry

I found this thread from a kernel mailing list that discusses the issue.

From what I understand there is a patch but not one that has advantages over the current situation so I guess this is a won't fix for now.

Hi Harry,

Per your last comment and reading through the lkml thread, it does appear this is a Won't Fix issue for now. Closing this report for now. Thanks.
