Bug Description

Currently MAAS offers only coarse control over which kernel should be installed on nodes, i.e. ga/hwe/hwe-edge/lowlat kernels. For environments with strict change control it may be necessary to exactly specify a kernel version such as "5.0.0-13-generic". It would be great if MAAS could offer more control here

We currently don't have plans to make specific kernel versions available in MAAS because this would mean that we would need to externally track each kernel of each release. If the kernel team were to maintain such a list it would be easier, as such, we support the current supported model the kernel team supports.

That said, the currently supported way to install kernels is to override what MAAS provides with curtin preseeds. You can override the kernel with the 'kernel' stanza: https://curtin.readthedocs.io/en/latest/topics/config.html
