Show-IP extension makes shell crash on startup

When I install the show-ip extension gnome shell no longer works. I login and am sent back to the login screen after a little while.

What is the output of the following?

journalctl /usr/bin/gnome-shell -f

Start it before installing the extension and let it run until after the crash.
