Application / Document search does not close when the "Put Windows" extension is installed

Bug Description

Pressing the super key, or clicking on `Show Applications` will display the application / Document search.

I'm unable to then close the search, or it hangs around having stolen focus.

Attempted to close by pressing:

* Escape
* Super
* Alt+F4

Meaning that:

* already open applications cannot be interacted with
* switching virtual desktops does not work

I have to right click on applications in the dock and select quit to close each one.

Then have to log out and back in.

This is the only way to have the system be usable again.

FYI, I have upgraded from Ubuntu 18.10 to 19.04 rather than this being a fresh install.

Disabling the "Put Windows" Gnome extension fixed the reported issue for me.

A shame as it and "Workspace Grid" were two extensions that gave me back the productivity I had with Ubuntu 16.04.

In order to file a bug against the "Put Windows" extension, I wrote up instructions for replicating the issue with a vbox VM.

But installing the plugin from scratch resulted in a working extension and desktop.

Reinstalling the extension on my actual laptop results in everything working as expected.

---

As part of upgrading the version of Gnome, could the system reinstall/refresh extensions so that this is a seamless process?

I had the same issue without the "Put Windows" extension.

Anyway, I had the "Workspace Grid" extension, and it seems the same workaround (disable/enable the extension) applies: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1135465/unable-to-close-applications-after-update-to-19-04

I have not been able to check if this works, because finally I reinstalled the system from scratch (previously I had release-upgraded from 18.10 to 19.04), and the issue has not affected me since then.

I don't use any of the listed extensions, but still happens. Quite a shame that it's marked as invalid if multiple previously working extensions can suddenly brake the UI ...
