Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

Using GIMP to capture a screen and save it in a directory makes Nautilus to open a window with "noname" selected in the file name box.

When I type the new file name the resulted action is executed in the file type box instead of the file name box. Therefore Nautilus window indicates the file name box as selected field but in fact it is pointing to another direction, the file type box.

I consider it as a bug because the user is not advised to move the mouse cursor before he starts to write the new file name.

In my opinion this interface should be like in the others OS, just start typing the new file name and not requiring an intermediate action to be executed.

The description is not clear. What version of Ubuntu do you use? Could you describe easy steps to trigger the issue?

I am using Hardy and this happen in all five testing machines with different hardware configuration.
I decided to report this behavior because I consider it annoying to have two steps action instead of one for saving files through Nautilus.

This Problem has annoyed me for some time with different versions of GIMP on Edgy, Feisty and Gutsy
Opening an existing File and saving it ist no problem.
But if you try to save a NEW file, the filename-field is out of focus and you always start typing in the folder window.

the description is not clear and the user didn't reply to the question, closing, that doesn't seem to be a nautilus issue anyway
