thank you for the report.

We need to resolve this problem with the freeplane project.
Could you please run "freeplane" from the terminal and attach the output here?

Also, please download the most current package:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/freeplane/files/freeplane%20stable/freeplane_1.7.7%7Eupstream-1_all.deb/download

and install it with:
sudo dpkg -i freeplane_1.7.7~upstream-1_all.deb

Does this resolve your problem?

This was a mistake: The template choice dialog was not seen by the user. Upstream has improved this problem.
