I assume this bug is about audio and you're not talking about something appearing muted...? :)

I also can't see any obvious problems. Do you have any gnome-shell extensions installed? Or any other software starting automatically on login?

Um, good question. The volume in Gnome shell top right panel, as well in Gnome settings, appears muted (and it is muted when I try to play things). All I need to do is unmute / press volume up or down to fix this, it's just a small niggle.

The only extension that I have is extended-gestures. The startup applications are `Snap user application autostart helper` and `SSH Key Agent`.

Just to confirm, I also did this upgrade path (18.04 -> 18.10 -> 19.04) on my desktop and I get the same issue.

There might be some old config setting that's wrong as a result of the upgrades.

Please try removing your old personal audio settings by running:

  mv ~/.config/pulse oldconfigpulse

Hi Daniel,

I've done that and, although it doesn't fix the issue completely, I think it's uncovered more clues. I've noticed that a volume setting gets applied a few seconds after Gnome loads. So, after removing the directory, I reboot and the volume comes up as it was in the previous session. But then, a few seconds later it is manipulated by something.

OK. Try running:

  gnome-session-properties

to see what hidden programs are getting run at login.

Yeah, it's only `Snap user application autostart helper` and `SSH Key Agent`.
