It asked, because you had you php.ini file changed?
Why did it exit with status 1 (error) / What's the error message?
Can you reproduce it using "sudo apt-get install php5-cgi" to retry the upgrade?

Hi!

To reproduce it is easy...

When I was upgrading from Gutsy to Hardy, it showed me an window asking to replace it, checking the differences. I choose to see the differences, but after I don't have a "Back" button, only "Forward", then I click on "Cancel", and that error appeared. After I do that manually in apt-get and replaced the current php.ini and it's fine now.

So when someone choose to not replace the php.ini or even click on Cancel, I think that error will appear.

Thanks

This is expected behavior, at least as far as I can see: you cancel the upgrade yourself. Unfortunately apport doesn't know about this and handles this like any other error during the upgrade process.
I'm closing it as Invalid.
